What were they thinking? I called clearblue easy and get this - the service lady on the phone told me... wait for it... that they can't sell refills because the BATTERY WASN'T DESIGNED for multi-month use!! OMG! Heard of energizer??!It's just gouging - they get you with the smiley face and ease of use - and then take you for the $40 ride every month!!! Now, I wouldn't give this product such a negative review just for that reason, (I may have ovulated too early or too late for the 7 sticks provided). My problem is we can not buy refill test sticks for the digital unit. Rather we have to buy the entire unit all over again. This seems very wasteful (not to mention expensive). Either include 20 or 30 sticks, or provide refills! I have tried this over many months, and always have gotten the smiley face (your LH surge). The trick is to make sure you start early enough in your cycle and do it every 12 hours. If you have a variable cycle of 24-29 days, you probably need to start on cycle day 10 and then do it every 12 hours after until your surge is finished. Yes, sometimes that means you buy more than one of these per cycle.Complaints? Yes. Because the reader has a tiny battery in it, it has occurred to me that this will have to be disposed in a hazardous waste facility. You can't just toss in the trash. So I am saving mine in a drawer to take to the local one in my city at the end of the year. It is wasteful for the environment. And yes, as other reviewers have pointed out, you should be able to just buy refills. (I have used old readers, btw, and they work fine, so the company is lying... Read more |
