For those of us who are anxious to have children and may be having problems doing so this product will help to ease your mind a little. While the accuracy is 97% that of a standard lab done at a doctors office I will take those odds any day of the week. If only to help keep the cost of having a child down. Keep in mind when they say to wait 7 minutes before reading the results they most certainly mean it. The C line (indicating that the test was done properly) showed up right way but it wasn't until almost exactly 7 minutes that the T line (indicating that you are indeed shooting 20 parts per million, or whatever the math is on that) finally showed up. Just follow the directions exactly as they have been written and keep the "work area" clean of possible contaminates and you should be good to go. Best of luck to you!

Nothing intrinsically wrong with this product. Pros-the test arrived on time, and the expiraiton date was more than 6 months away. It arrived in good shape. It does take a few hoops to jump through to get the test completed- for example, the test subject cannot ejaculate at a minimum 48 hours prior to taking the test- so plan accordingly and there are 4 or 5 steps involved to get the test completed. Cons- much like a cheap pregnancy or ovulation test you may run into this dilemma- "do I see the line? Is that a line? Or am I imagining it? In one light it looks like a line, but in another light, there may not actually be a line there!" My husband has poor vision, my vision is excellent. If I hadn't been there with my good eyesight, he could have thought the results were negative, the line was that faint. Now, if you go to the website, it says that if there is any line there at all, no matter how faint, the test is positive. I think we're now actually left with more anxiety because... Read more

Took test and followed instruction to a "T" with a timer. The test came back invalid not showing anything. Not negative, not positive, but invalid. What stinks is there is only 1 test per kit.

I agree with the other reviewer... this product works fine, i did get the smiley face, but MAN - who on gods green earth puts as much time and effort into designing a product like this ONLY TO NOT MAKE REFILLS???? What were they thinking? I called clearblue easy and get this - the service lady on the phone told me... wait for it... that they can't sell refills because the BATTERY WASN'T DESIGNED for multi-month use!! OMG! Heard of energizer??!

It's just gouging - they get you with the smiley face and ease of use - and then take you for the $40 ride every month!!! ARGH!

I never got the smiley face. Now, I wouldn't give this product such a negative review just for that reason, (I may have ovulated too early or too late for the 7 sticks provided). My problem is we can not buy refill test sticks for the digital unit. Rather we have to buy the entire unit all over again. This seems very wasteful (not to mention expensive). Either include 20 or 30 sticks, or provide refills! It was disappointing not to get the smiley face :(

This thing is fantastic because trying to read the double lines on most ovulation detector kits is a nightmare. I have tried this over many months, and always have gotten the smiley face (your LH surge). The trick is to make sure you start early enough in your cycle and do it every 12 hours. If you have a variable cycle of 24-29 days, you probably need to start on cycle day 10 and then do it every 12 hours after until your surge is finished. Yes, sometimes that means you buy more than one of these per cycle.

Complaints? Yes. Because the reader has a tiny battery in it, it has occurred to me that this will have to be disposed in a hazardous waste facility. You can't just toss in the trash. So I am saving mine in a drawer to take to the local one in my city at the end of the year. It is wasteful for the environment. And yes, as other reviewers have pointed out, you should be able to just buy refills. (I have used old readers, btw, and they work fine, so the company is lying... Read more

HOW DOES IT WORK? Human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) is a hormone, produced by the developing placenta shortly after the conception and secreted into the urine. The pregnancy test contains antibodies which specifically react with this hormone. WHEN TO BEGIN TESTING The length of the menstrual cycle is the duration from your first menstrual bleeding day to the day before the next bleeding begins. Determine the length of menstrual cycle before test. Please refer to the chart below to determine when you should start testing. If your cycle is shorter than 21 days or longer than 38 days, consult a physician. If you do not know your cycle length, you may begin the test 11 days after your first period since the average cycle length is 28 days. Perform 1 test each day over a 5 days period, or until the LH surge has been detected.

For the first few months we were trying to conceive I spent an estimated $400 plus dollars on store-bought HPTs (home pregnancy tests) & OPKs (Ovulation Prediction Kits)...then an 8 month pregnant friend told me she had used the test strip cheapies for both so I have switched over. To ensure I didn't miss my fertile period by using a cheaper product for the first month I used 2 different brands of store bought OPKs plus the cheap OPK test strips and compared the performance of all three (on every day of testing). It worked perfectly (and was actually more sensitive than one of the expensive store brands) so I would absolutely recommend anyone wondering if they should switch over to do so immediately!

P.S Just in case you don't get the instructions (I did) you can apply the same instructions for any other tests - dip for 5 seconds, wait for 5 minutes (although you will usually see a result within a minute or two)etc. For the OPK the test line must be as dark, or darker, than... Read more

These strips are extremely inexpensive and accurate! They arrived only a couple of days after I placed my order. The very easy to read instructions were emailed to me, which I thought was a little bit strange. They are in individually sealed packets and then taped together with packaging tape, so you have to be careful pulling them apart. They are a little bit messy because you dip the strip (without any type of cover)in urine, and then lay it on a flat surface. This wasn't too bad because I used the back of the toilet and cleaned it when I was done. I would say the little bit of extra effort was well worth it because of the price. These strips cost a fraction of the ones in the drug store. And, I found them to be just as accurate (if not more so). After using them for only one cycle I am now pregnant!!! I would highly recommend these strips.

The test strips are easy to use and are a great value compared to drug store prices. The only problem I had was that they e-mail the directions and there was a problem the first time they tried to send them to me. The tests are very self explainitory, but the directions do give answers to a few questions that might be handy.

The strips come all stuck together which is kind of inconvenient. I took five or ten minutes when I got them to separate them and put them in a couple of sandwich bags (one for the ovulation strips and one for the pregnancy strips)and put them in the cupboard in the bathroom. This just saved time and annoyance later. A small basket or storage container would work just as well. Also, if you don't normally keep paper cups in your bathroom, it's a good idea to buy a box/bag of the smallest size bathroom cups and keep them handy too.
